Dragon Boat Festival,also known as Duanwu Festival,is a traditional Chinese holiday celebrated on the 5TH,May of the lunar calendar.There will be a holiday from 22nd/June to 24th/June,2023.25th/June is the first working day.This day is filled with various customs and activities, honoring the great poet Qu Yuan.
One of the main highlights of this festival is the making of Zongzi.As the Dragon Boat Festival approaches,Oak Doer prepared the ingredients and utensils needed to make Zongzi on 20th/June,2023,such as Glutinous rice, meats, beans, and other fillings.The bamboo leaves are soaked in water to make them more pliable.On the morning of 21st/June,2023,the colleagues begin gather around the table,each with their designated roles.
The process of making Zongzi is meticulous and requires teamwork like we making high quality workwear and leisure wear.While some individuals start laying the bamboo leaves flat on the table and folding them into a cone shape,others begin scooping the rice into the leaves.This process requires precise measurement to ensure the right amount of filling in each Zongzi.Then, the jujube fillings are added to the rice,making each Zongzi unique in taste.Once the filling is complete,the bamboo leaves are carefully folded and tied using a thin strip of bamboo or string.This process requires patience and coordination between team members,as the Zongzi must be tightly secured to maintain the shape during the cooking process.
The Dragon Boat Festival is not only about making Zongzi. It also entails various customs, such as participating in dragon boat races,hanging up pouches filled with herbs to ward off evil spirits, reading to recite Qu Yuan’s poetry.Oak Doer also held poetry speech,the poetry speech not only pays tribute to the great poet of Quyuan but also serves as a reminder to express our emotions and love for our working life and the people around us.
